This is the second installment of the series I call “Kouros.” The term is a Greek statue from the Archaic period depicting the ideal of youth. Therefore, Kouros 1 and 2 are snapshots of youth from my perspective. The first Kouros, purposefully monotone and hopeless, is about living inside your head too much and how it can be to your own detriment, even when you think you’re merely being self-aware, which the protagonist realizes toward the end.

The second Kouros is more or less a rebirth and an attempt of the protagonist to put his thoughts into action. Hence, his being “born in a hurry” in the first song (“Zion Curtain"). Overall, the use of the term “Kouros” is juxtaposed with recurring themes of blackness throughout both Kouros projects.

Finally, Kouros 2 was recorded from 2015 to 2020, which may be why you notice a difference in my voice over the course of the album. Both Kouros projects represent my twenties with this project representing the second-half of my 20s as I approach 30.
